Why bother with Email Marketing, it’s dead right?

In this video I explain why email marketing for ecommerce is not only a nice to have. But rather a must to combat rising Facebook and Google Ads costs.

There are 3 types of traffic – traffic you control, traffic you don’t control and traffic you own

Email is one of the very few sources of traffic that you own!

In fact, the email list is often the most valuable asset in any

So What is the Aim of Email Marketing?

Primary focus: Build and maintain relationships with your customers!
Secondary: Abandoned cart recovery, promotions and to sell to your customers

Stage 1:
Abandoned Cart Recovery – I use a 4 stage email

Post Purchase Thank You – Split First Order & Repeat Customers and offer a discount code

Welcome Email – Introduce them to your brand and do a giveaway/offer a discount or some kind of digital produce (ie ebook).

Stage 2:
Welcome Series – let the customer get to know you/your brand, use Russel Brunson’s Soap Opera Sequence style emails that have a hook and lead in to the next email.

Promotional Emails – Use holidays/events like Halloween, Black Friday etc to your advantage. At the very least send one sales campaign a week to your list. Make sure it has relevant content eg if running a general store don’t send cat stuff to the person who bought Outdoor Gear (will speak of segmentation down the track)

Stage 3:
Value Based Emails – Building on from the welcome series, you should be sending regular Seinfeld Sequence Emails. These are basically emails that build your brands persona and include parts of everyday life…really they are emails about nothing but keep you in front of your customers minds. Send customers tips, tricks, hacks, videos and as much free content as possible…watch they will end up buying from you.

Testimonials – make sure you build up social proof of your brand by sending reviews from customers (especially new products). Also ask for reviews and photos!
